Weekly Growth Notes #2
The week of June 9
Reading
- Read another 5% of the book - How to talk to anyone. Continued learning on how to appreciate and give compliments to anyone in different scenarios
- Read this interesting post by someone at OpenAI on how they are thinking about Consciousness for AI models. It was a higher level thought process post but i like the different dimensions on designing for warmth.
- Read this amazing blog on creating goals instead of chasing goals. Refusals are as important as ambitions. Constraints are the rules of the game. But not all games are worth playing. And some of the most powerful forms of progress emerge from people who stopped trying to win and started building new game boards entirely.
Listening
- Listened to this amazing podcast between founder of Cloudflare - Matthew Prince and Logan Bartlett from Redpoint. Some of my favorite parts were on how they set this audacious goal for "building better internet" and that became the guiding light for every decision they later took to run the company. Their commitment towards transparency helped them build strong trust with customers. Loved their approach on competing with hyperscalers on building a more connected cloud rather than captivating cloud.
- Listened to a podcast between Marc Andreessen from A16Z and Jack Altman from Uncapped capital. It was focussed on the future of venture capital. Some of my favorite parts were positing venture capital as a customer service business. The evolution of investing from tool companies to software companies, sushi boat philosophy and why raising is the easiest thing that a founder will do in their entrepreneurship journey.
Ended the week by reading The Weekend Leverage Newsletter - key highlight was comparing AI revenue with SF Hacker House which means how fuzzy boundaries are when it comes to revenue transfer between chips to data center to foundational model companies. Image attached. Will deep dive more on this topic in coming weeks.
